We are in a fight but the Bible calls it a "good fight." And it's a
fight of faith. What does this mean? Even though our victory was
obtained for us when Christ sacrificed his life and then overcame death
by resurrection, we still have to fight using our faith to receive and
possess what has been promised to us. When Jesus understood that Peter
was going to be tempted by satan, He said these words to him, "Simon,
Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift YOU as wheat.
But I have prayed for you, THAT YOUR FAITH SHOULD NOT FAIL; and WHEN you
have returned to ME, strengthen your brothers." Luke 22:31-32. Notice
that the only thing that Jesus offered him was to pray for his faith not
to fail. He never prayed that the temptation or the attack would go
away. Faith is the key. "Without faith it is impossible to please God,"
says the writer of the book of Hebrews. You must WORK with the faith
that you have and yes everyone has been granted a measure of faith -
Romans 12:3: ".........for God has dealt to each one a measure of
faith." I like these 'address' numbers, with the 22's and 1,2,3's !
