Hiel = God lives. Thought how fitting this mans name, for the one whose neglect in following the command of Joshua led to the great loss of his firstborn and last born son. The fact that God lives was demonstrated in the power of the curse being fulfilled.

    We do well to heed the warning of Joshua-not to return to trusting in the flesh instead of leaning on God and heeding prophetic voices through which He guides, heals, strengthens. corrects etc.
