Hosea 11:1-3

King James Version (KJV)

11. 1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

Hosea 11:1-3  New Living Translation (NLT)

The Lord’s Love for Israel

11. 1 “When Israel was a child, I loved him,
and I called my son out of Egypt.
But the more I[a] called to him,
the farther he moved from me,
offering sacrifices to the images of Baal
    and burning incense to idols.
I myself taught Israel[b] how to walk,
leading him along by the hand.
But he doesn’t know or even care
that it was I who took care of him.
Footnotes:
  1. Hosea 11:2 As in Greek version; Hebrew reads they.
  2. Hosea 11:3 Hebrew Ephraim, referring to the northern kingdom of Israel; also in 11:8, 9, 12.
