I was recently sitting outside, enjoying the evening when I smacked a mosquito which was trying to snack on my arm. I heard myself thinking, “Wow, that was a vicious swing at such a small thing.” I then heard direction from God, “Why aren’t my people that vicious against other things which are trying to kill them?” He reminded me that too often we ignore the small pesky sins in our lives. We brush them off, allow them to live. It is later that we can feel the full brunt of their affect as their deliver disease to our blood system.
Take aim. Now is the time to fully open your eyes to the ways of the Spirit. Don’t allow the small sins to inoculate you against the healing which the blood of Jesus has brought you. Like natural cataracts that develop, we too often are unaware of them unless we are regularly examined by the physician.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that He plans for us health and wholeness. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”, (ESV).
Jeremiah 33:6 (ESV), Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.
Acts 3:16 (ESV), And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.
3 John 1:2 (ESV), Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
So the next time you have the opportunity, strike back. Take the offense against that which God hates. Allow our great physician to inspect us. Let us willingly pass beneath our Shepherd's rod (Ezekiel 20:37).
